Bowl-A-Thon 2017 – MTI Cares and Safe Harbor

MTI Cares would like to extend a Solidarity Shout-Out to all the sponsors, volunteers, participants, and donors who made the 4th Annual MTI Cares Bowl-A-Thon a huge success!  We raised over $11,000 for Safe Harbor!

The day was dreary outside but spirits were bright and the pins were jumping inside Dream Lanes when over 120 bowlers showed up to bowl for a great cause and have some fun.  This year MTI Cares teamed up with Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center to close out “Child Abuse Prevention Month.”   The event helped raise money and awareness of the work that they do to help conduct safe and sensitive forensic interviews of children who are witnesses or victims of abuse.

This year we received sponsorship donations from the East High Purgolder Philanthropy Foundation and the Sherman Equity Leadership Council in addition to local businesses, Unions and community leaders.   Toward the end of the event we received an anonymous donation of five, crisp $100 bills!  Way to go MTI!  Solidarity in action to help our kids and families.

Sponsors of the 2017 event include:

Employees of Boardman Clark LLP WPS

MTI Cares is excited to announce a partnership with Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center!

KV_BowlingApril is Child Abuse Prevention Month. In recognition of this important issue, MTI has teamed up with Safe Harbor. One of only fourteen in the state, Safe Harbor serves as Dane County’s only child advocacy center.

Since 1999 Safe Harbor has served over 3,000 children who were suspected victims of abuse. As teachers, we know first hand how important it is to have trained, compassionate and effective people to support our students and families at their most vulnerable times. In 2013 there were 5,456 reported cases of child abuse in Dane County.

MTI Cares is planning the 4th Annual MTI Bowl-A-Thon to benefit Safe Harbor-Child Advocacy Center

The event will take place on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 12-3 PM at Dream Lanes in Madison.

Register your team today!

  • Team Sign Up Form
Team Registration:  We ask that teams consist of 4-6 bowlers.  Each team should have a team captain. A team does not need to consist of MTI Members.  MMSD Administrators, BOE Members and friends of MTI have sponsored teams in the past.  Feel free to join us.

This will be a family friendly event. Each team will occupy one lane.  Bowling fees are $9 per bowler and covers shoes and 3 games.  We are asking that each bowler attempt to raise $20 from pledges (friends, family, co-workers, etc.).

  • Pledge form to track your donations

Once again, we’re looking for sponsors and donations from local businesses and labor unions. If you know someone that would be willing to sponsor or want to sponsor this event, please see this link:

Thanks to generous contributions from local labor and business sponsors, participants, and countless donors, MTI Cares has raised over $30,000 for child centered non-profits in the past three years. Thanks to MTI and many important community donors, our last charity organization, Briarpatch, was able to open a shelter for homeless and unaccompanied teens on October 1, 2015.  Now, we are partnering with another essential support agency for our children, Safe Harbor, to raise both awareness and funding support for these crucial child advocacy services and programs..

Special thanks goes to the MTI Cares Committee who drives much of the fundraising and pushes to get things done!

You can find a list of our previous Bowl-A-Thon sponsors at this link (MTI Bowl-a-Thon Sponsors).  Thanks MTI!  You show time and time again through your tireless dedication to Madison’s children, that you care!
